Privacy Policy for u the goat

Last updated: 4 October 2026

This policy explains how information is handled when you use the u the goat iPhone app, its widgets, and our app-support service. The app provides curated motivational posts and lets you save favourites locally and share posts using your device's sharing options.

Who we are

The developer is Zero Intelligence Ltd. In this policy, "we", "us" and "our" refer to that company. We are responsible for personal information we handle when providing support and operating the app.

You can contact us about privacy or support at hello@zero-intelligence.com. Our website is zero-intelligence.com.

Information stored on your device

When you save a favourite, the app stores the post's identifier, title, description, date and a local copy of its artwork. The app and its widgets use shared storage on your device so widgets can display your saved posts. Widgets also keep local settings and technical information needed to manage updates, such as retry counters.

The app does not upload your favourites or build a remote profile of the posts you save. It does not provide its own user accounts or synchronise favourites between devices. These features do not ask for your name, email address, date of birth, location, contacts or personal photo library.

Public content and Apple services

The app and daily-post widget download public posts and artwork from Apple's CloudKit service. These requests involve technical information needed to deliver and protect the service. Apple may make operational logs available to us, including request times, operation details, operating-system information and a container-specific CloudKit identifier. This identifier is not your Apple Account email address.

We use operational information available to us to investigate errors, maintain the feed and understand service performance. We do not combine it with other companies' data to advertise to you or track you across apps and websites.

Apple may also provide App Store usage reports or diagnostic reports, depending on its services and your device privacy settings. Such reports can include app and operating-system versions, crash information and technical identifiers. We use available reports to diagnose problems and improve reliability. The app does not include advertising or a separate third-party analytics SDK.

Apple's own processing is described in its Privacy Policy. You can manage relevant analytics and diagnostic-sharing choices in your Apple device settings.

Information you send to support

If you email us, we receive your email address and anything you choose to include, such as your name, message, device details or screenshots. We use this information to reply, resolve the issue and handle related follow-up. Please send only information needed for your enquiry.

Providing support information is optional. You can use the app without contacting us, although we may be unable to resolve a particular issue without enough information about it. Our email-service providers process correspondence to deliver and store our support messages.

Purposes and lawful bases

Where UK or European data-protection law applies, we rely on legitimate interests to operate a reliable service, investigate technical problems, answer enquiries and protect the app. We balance those interests against your privacy and use only information needed for those purposes.

Where handling information is necessary to provide support or a service you have requested under a contract with us, we may rely on that contractual necessity. We rely on a legal obligation where a law requires us to retain or disclose information. If we ask for consent for a particular use, you can withdraw it by contacting us; withdrawal does not affect processing that was lawful before it.

Sharing and recipients

Apple provides the App Store and CloudKit infrastructure. Our email-service providers handle support correspondence on our behalf. We may disclose information to professional advisers or public authorities where reasonably necessary to deal with a legal matter or meet a legal requirement, with appropriate confidentiality and protection.

When you choose the app's share action, iOS passes the selected post to the app, service or recipient you choose. Those recipients handle information under their own terms and privacy practices. We do not receive a list of your recipients or upload your favourites as part of that action.

We do not sell personal information, share it with data brokers or use it for targeted advertising. We require providers processing personal information on our behalf to protect it under applicable data-protection requirements and our agreements with them.

Retention and deletion

Saved favourites remain in the app's local storage until you remove them. You can remove an individual favourite using its bookmark icon or remove all favourites through Settings and clear favourites. Removing a widget alone does not clear your favourites.

Deleting the app through iOS removes its local app data. Offloading the app can preserve data. Device backups may retain copies according to your Apple backup settings, and restoring a backup may restore saved data. We do not hold a server copy of your favourite library to restore or delete for you.

We retain support correspondence only while it is needed to resolve the enquiry, handle related follow-up or a continuing dispute, or meet a legal retention requirement. We assess retention using whether the matter remains open, whether a related claim needs the correspondence, and whether a law requires it. We delete or remove identifying information when those purposes no longer apply.

Apple controls retention of its service logs and reports. If we retain an extract for a technical investigation, we keep it only for that investigation and any related security or legal requirement, then delete it or remove identifying information. Copies already sent to your chosen sharing recipients are controlled by those recipients.

International processing

Apple and our email-service providers may process information in countries outside your country of residence. Any international transfer for which we are responsible must have a lawful transfer basis, such as an applicable adequacy decision or approved contractual safeguards. Contact us for details of the countries and safeguards relevant to your information, and how to obtain a copy of those safeguards.

Your rights and choices

Depending on your location and the circumstances, you may have rights to access personal information we hold, correct it, request deletion, restrict its use or receive a portable copy where the law provides that right. Contact hello@zero-intelligence.com to make a request. We may need proportionate information to verify the request. We cannot remotely access your locally stored favourites.

Right to object: where we process personal information on the basis of legitimate interests, you can object to that processing. We will consider your request under the applicable law.

If processing relies on your consent, you can withdraw that consent. You can also manage relevant Apple privacy choices in device settings and delete local favourites using the controls described above. We do not make automated decisions about you that have legal or similarly significant effects.

You can complain to your local data-protection authority. In the UK, this is the Information Commissioner's Office: ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint. You can contact us first, but you do not have to do so before using your statutory rights.

Children and security

The app's core features do not ask users to provide personal details. If you believe a child has supplied personal information to our support service, contact us so we can assess the situation and handle or delete the information as required by law.

We use platform security and reasonable safeguards for information we handle. No storage or transmission method can guarantee complete security. Keep your device secure, particularly where another person can access your saved posts or email.

Changes and other services

We will update this policy when the app or our practices change and show the revised date. Where a change requires additional notice or consent, we will provide it before the relevant processing begins.

This policy covers u the goat, its widgets and app support. It does not describe all data processing by other Zero Intelligence projects or by external websites and services you choose to visit.
